Next Tuesday is the Stinky Sneaker at the Spokane Arena. Girls are at 5 and dudes at 7. If you only see one game see the girls and root for our very own Mariah Cunningham! As always Fuel has a VIP Suite (#14). Bring some friends and kick it in style. Also, if you need a ticket to the game we have a limited amount so contact Andrew pronto if you need one.

Mini-Fuel

This coming Monday there will be a lunch training at the church for all those interested in running a Mini-Fuel during the Summer. You do need to RSVP with Andrew so we have enough food.

What is Mini-Fuel?

Our weekly gatherings take a break for the Summer but the importance of staying focused on Jesus doesn't. Mini-Fuel is a group of friends who gather together during the Summer to encourage each other in their faith, study God's word, and of course...have fun together!

What's the training about?

The lunch training will equip you to lead a Mini-Fuel effectively and once you are trained you will be supported and discipled throughout the Summer. In addition Mini-Fuel leaders will be given easy to use Bible studies and other resources to use. There will be at least one additional Mini-Fuel leaders meeting during the Summer to check in and share with other leaders how things are going.

When does Mini-Fuel meet?

The great thing about Mini-Fuel is that it happens whenever you decide your group wants to meet. It could be late night on Friday or early Monday morning. You invite your friends and pick the time that works best for everyone.

So come to the Mini-Fuel leaders meeting this Monday at Noon and get ready for an amazing Summer!

TQ Week 2

Last week at Fuel we answered questions relating to knowing how God speaks and if we're in his will or not. If we want to know how he communicates to us we have to first ask the question, 'Do we know God?' We can't truly know the heart of people, recognize their voice, or understand what they're saying unless we're in relationship with them and the same is true of God. So we pray and we listen. We read the Bible not to find a solution to our problems but to know the character of our God. As we invest in our relationship with God it becomes easier and easier to recognize his leading and direction in our life. Check out John 10:1-5 and ask God to help you recognize how he communicates to you.

As promised we'll answer a few more Tough Questions on the blog this week.

1. "If Adam and Eve had 2 sons...where did all the girls come from?
Genesis 4 records the birth of Cain and Abel but they aren't the only kids Adam and Eve had. Genesis 5:3-5 says, 'When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.'
So while Cain and Abel are the most famous, Adam and Eve probably had dozens of kids - including girls- which is what God had told them to do. In fact - since there was no birth control - Adam and Eve could have had several hundred kids over the 930 years he lived.

2. 'In the story of Jesus' birth, what exactly did the Innkeeper say?'

If you were at the Fuel Christmas party you may remember the Christmas quiz we did and how so many things we believe about Christmas aren't actually recorded in the Bible. This is one of them. There is no mention of an Innkeeper anywhere in scripture. Luke 2:7 mentions that there was no room for them at the inn but doesn't say anything about an Innkeeper.

Tough Questions starts next week!

This morning I woke up to snow on the ground. Gotta love Spring Break in Spokane.
Next week Fuel is back on and we're starting our Tough Questions series. We've had some great questions already on topics like homosexuality, abortion, other religions, how God communicates with us, what speaking in tongues is, and some that you'll hear later.
I had two very challenging questions that I thought I would answer on the blog this week as kind of an intro to our TQ series. So here you go.

Question #1: Who's going to win the NCAA tournament?
Since I've vowed to give as accurate an answer from God's word as I can for the TQ series this is definitely the toughest. The Bible isn't a how-to book for living and so it doesn't usually work like a Magic 8-Ball for our questions. But...there are principals in God's word that lead us to truth. Jesus says in Luke 10:3, "Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves." This points (in hindsight) to the *fact that UConn was destined for the win as Jeremy Lamb had an incredible game.

Question #2: Is God fat?

This was probably the deepest spiritual question I received but I think the word fat was misspelled and so the question should actually be, "Is God phat?" And yes, God is indeed very, very phat!

These next weeks will be a great time to invite your friends to Fuel as we wrestle with some great questions that you all submitted. Spread the word and we'll see you next week!

*The real fact here is that any fool can make the Bible say what they want it to say which is why you need to read it for yourself and always look at the big picture of what's being said and not focus in on just one verse that can be twisted to mean anything.

We're partnering with other youth ministries again this year for Winter Camp and we are excited at some changes for this year's camp.
We'll be going to Silver Lake (near Medical Lake) January 13-16 this year for a brand new Winter Camp experience. Silver Lake allows us a closer camp experience at a cheaper cost. Early registration deadline is December 5th for only $90.

How you see and understand God determines what your faith looks like.
Last week we talked about both the amazing truth and tough challenge it is to see God as our Dad. It can be tough to view God as our dad because we take our relationship with our earthly dad (or lack of) and view God the same way.
There are 2 lies that Satan would have us believe about God:
- God does not love us
- You’re not doing enough for God to love you
Neither of these are true and the only place to get a true picture of God's heart for us is from the Bible. Check it out:

God loves you right where you’re at!
Romans 5:8

God demonstrates his own love -this way- while we were still sinners Jesus died for us.

Once you have received him he doesn’t look at your faults anymore.

James 1:5 “gives generously without finding fault”

It doesn’t take faith to believe we are messed up. It takes faith to believe that God forgives us.

And the awesome thing…God wants you to live an amazing life and wants to give you what your heart desires!

Last night there were 100 of you that heard about a message of HOPE. The hope we talked about is like nothing this world can offer. Science, philosophy, religion, athletics, relationships...none of them can offer the security and trust that a life committed to God can.

Many people spend their entire lives trying to find something that gives them peace, makes them feel secure, or makes them truly happy. I won't pretend that there aren't times in this life - even for devoted followers of Jesus - where we feel hopeless. Its often in these times, where we have nowhere to turn, that Jesus become more than just an abstract religious figure. Check out the video below and think about how tough times, even times of tragedy can still reflect the hope that we have in Jesus.

What a great day yesterday!
3 years ago CV had about 40 students and Greenacres had about 12 show up for the See You At The Pole prayer time. Yesterday there was over 50 at Greenacres and over 100 at CV. Definitely one of the best SYATP times ever!

Last night around 1,000 students came together for an amazing night that saw youth pastors get dunked, students rock outfor Jesus, and also hear an amazing message by Jeremy Johnson. Hope you're already looking forward to next year. I am.

It's crazy how fast the Summer has gone by. The good news is that there's still almost a month of Summer left. Even better news is that Fuel is gearing up for our re-launch on September 8. We've got some great things in store for the coming school year so stay tuned!

High School Camp

Just about two full days of camp and things are going great. This week we have 24 students from our youth ministry helping to make up the over 250 campers here for the week. Our speaker Mike Guzzardo has been walking us through the EPIC (camp theme) journey that we find ourselves in. The first night he talked about God and his great love for us and how that has the ability – if we let it – to absolutely transform our lives. Last night he talked about Satan and the reality of sin. It was a challenging message that led to great conversations in both the guys and girls cabins and commitments to turn away from specific things.

As this is being typed the girls are going to conquer their fears on the high ropes course. It's a challenge in trust and faith at more than 20 feet above the ground. Right after they're done the guys will take it on. The weather has been relatively mild this week which has been nice. Thanks for your prayers and stay tuned for another update in a day or so.

Slightly cooler temperatures in the 80's yesterday were a welcome relief from the first 24 hours. Monday night ended with more foundational truth from our speaker as he challenged the students to decide for themselves whether they believe the Bible. Just before bed one of the craziest versions of capture the flag was played. With over 400 campers pretty much every big group game that is played is massive.

Tuesday's topic was sin and the cabins had great conversations about the results of sin. The students are continuing to press into every aspect of camp and having a great time. It's hard to believe that camp is half way done already.

Day 1

One night down and almost a full day in the books and camp is going great. The speaker – Dave Gamon - lay a great foundation last night as he talked about the truth of God's word and who God is. This led to some great conversations in both the guys and girls cabins. Today started off with a great devotion and time of worship and has been going non-stop with games and activities the rest of the day. The guys played a fierce battle of paintball and the girls conquered the vertical playground which is basically an obstacle course that goes 40 feet straight up.

Tonight will be our second session with Dave followed by a Lord of the Rings themed version of Capture the Flag. Thanks for praying for the students!

I've been thinking about you all recently and hope you're doing good and haven't put your faith on the shelf for the Summer. Really, what I mean by 'faith' is Jesus.
If you don't know who Jesus is or aren't really sure what you're faith should look like do this...

...read the Bible.

The Bible was never meant to be read like a text book. It's meant to be read as letter to YOU from GOD. Yup.
Don't know where to start? Read the Gospel of John (Matthew, Mark, Luke, JOHN). Read it as if it was written just for you...because it was.

As you read about Jesus you begin to know him. Not just know about him like you know about a movie or sports star but actually, really know him. You see, as you read the Bible and talk to him (also known as prayer) than you get to know him.

Do you struggle with depression, addiction, low self esteem, loneliness, anger? If you know Jesus the grip those things have in your life is loosened until you're FREE!

How do you know if you really KNOW Jesus? You want to tell others about him. Let's do it. As other people get to know Jesus than crazy things start to happen.
That's what I'm excited about. People knowing Jesus and crazy things happening...even miracles. Are you in?

What a great week last week as over 80 of you showed up to honor the graduating Seniors. This week is our last weekly gathering of the school year. It's BBQ and Baptism time!

Everything kicks off at 6 PM with food and games and toward the end of the night we'll be celebrating with the dozen or so students who will be getting baptized. Check out the map below for details on how to get to the beach club and spread the word!

30 Hour Famine officially starts tomorrow at 11AM. No food after that. Grab a cardboard box, warm clothes and the money you raised and we'll see you at 6 PM!

30 Hour Famine

Hey everyone the time is nearly upon us. This years 30 Hour Famine is going to be like none you've ever experienced. We can't tell you online but be prepared for a very creative sleeping experience this weekend. Come Wednesday to find out more about that. We've got some fun and super challenging events planned and as usual Chocolate Milk will be a precious commodity.

Here's what you need to know:

In order to go 30 Hours without food you can't eat any later than 11am Friday.
Check in is at the church at 6 PM Friday night.
- Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, mat, and warm clothes
- If you haven't turned in your permission slip bring it on Wednesday or Friday at check in.
- Keep raising money this week for those kiddos
We break our fast Saturday at 5 PM (30 Hours) and will be done by 6 PM.
- If you need to leave earlier it has to be approved.
Sunday at church we'll be sharing about the Famine at both services.
For those of you missing your Silverwood trip we have a Fuel trip in the works for June.

Hello Fuel people just wanted to remind you of a few upcoming things…

This Week Fuel will taking a break to celebrate Thanksgiving. We'll see you next week!

Girls Night, December 4th, 6:30- 9 at church. Bring a warm coat! We'll be delivering cookies and caroling for the seniors in our church and then back to church for goodies and games!

We are stoked about what God is doing (and has been doing) in our youth ministry this Fall. Thanks for making Wednesday nights a fun, energetic and most importantly God focused time. We've been seeing new faces literally every Wednesday since we kicked off in September and that is translating to growth in the ministry. Keep inviting your friends because our goal is that every student in Liberty Lake (and beyond) would know who Jesus is. Not in a religious way but in a life changing one!

This week we're continuing on in the series we started last week called Step Up - based on 1 Timothy 4:12 . Next week we'll be on Thanksgiving break but will be back in full force December 2^nd. See you soon!
